OVERVIEW: This website is a re make of Twitter, a social networking service which users post and interact with tweets. I put by development skills to the test in trying to design the exact layout from scratch on my own. I developed some of the most used pages of the platform like the home page, profile (tweets, replies, media, likes), and lastly trending pages (news, sports, entertainment). I also added fake tweets, react buttons, real news articles, and YouTube videos to simulate an actual social media experience. CHALLENGES: The first challenge was to examine Twitters overall layout. Twitter has a fairly simple website which includes some floating boxes, fixed navigation and side bars, and endless scroll. From a development standpoint, this seemed fairly simple to accomplish. Twitter also uses minimal color like pops of blue and grays. I found the color scheme and font first to began adding these elements together. Starting with the home page, I took time to ensure things were as close to the platform as possible, which turned out to be quite difficult since I was working with coordinates and code versus drag and drop design. Making sure each page was directed correctly was also challenging. Other than the development process itself, I spent lots of time adding actual content to each page. I went on Twitter and grabbed some interesting or popular tweets from my feed, and used a celebritys profile example to recreate that page piece for piece as well.
RESULT: Using my knowledge in web development, specifically HTML and CSS, I succeeded my mission and created a Twitter experience! I hope to develop more pages of the platform and account for more scenarios like tweeting and messages to complete the full experience. This project was challenging, but rewarding to complete.
